On July 26, 2021, Kenya's national rugby sevens team, Shujaa, faced off against their African arch-rivals, South Africa's Blitzboks, in their second match at the Tokyo Olympic Games.

Shujaa had already lost their opening game to the USA, and a win against the Blitzboks was crucial for their chances of qualifying for the quarterfinals.

However, the Blitzboks defended well and repelled all Kenyan attacks to win their second match and secure a spot in the quarterfinals.

South Africa led 14-5 at halftime, courtesy of tries by Selvyn Davids and Shakes Soyizwapi. Kenya managed to pull one back through Collins Injera, but the second half remained scoreless.

Shujaa will now have to defeat Ireland in their last pool match to stand a chance to qualify for the quarterfinals.

The top two teams will be joined by two best losers in the quarterfinals.

Kenya's next match is against Ireland on Tuesday at 5 am East African Time.
