On July 26, 2021, a dramatic incident unfolded in Nyalunya as police officers raided the house of two suspected gangsters, leading to a confrontation that resulted in their fatal shooting.

According to eyewitnesses, the suspects, who were wanted for burglary and theft, refused to comply with the police order to come out of their house. When they finally emerged, they engaged the officers in a physical confrontation, with one of the suspects brandishing a machete and the other drawing out a fake Ceska pistol.

One of the officers, in a bid to protect themselves, fired at the suspects, fatally wounding them. The bodies were later transferred to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary for post-mortem.

County Commander Samuel Anampiu confirmed the incident, stating that the police had been trailing the suspects for some time. The suspects were also linked to a series of robberies in the area, with some of the stolen goods found in their house.

During the search, police officers discovered two crow bars believed to have been used in committing crimes. The suspects had an active case at the Winam Law Courts, where one of them was facing burglary charges.
