On July 23, 2021, a group of Jubilee MPs allied to President Uhuru Kenyatta met at the Windsor Golf and Country Club to discuss the party's dwindling fortunes.
The meeting, which lasted for five hours, was attended by about 30 MPs, a Chief Administrative Secretary, and two Principal Secretaries.
According to Nyeri Town MP Wambugu Ngunjiri, who was the master of ceremony at the meeting, the MPs engaged in candid conversations on the party's dwindling fortunes.
"It clarified exactly where we are, factually. Now we know where we are, especially those of us in the Mt Kenya region, which is a key stronghold. Where we are is not as good as we would want, but neither is it as bad as we have been made to fear," Ngunjiri told the meeting.
The MPs agreed on the need to quickly turn the tide and resolved to begin a reactivation of the party to combat the rising stature of United Democratic Alliance (UDA), a party linked to Deputy President William Ruto.
As part of the resolution, the MPs agreed to empower caucuses, including those of regional, women, and youth, to reengineer the popularity of the party.
They also agreed to engage the public and general membership through public town halls and village barazas to get involvement, feedback, and ideas to improve and make changes in the party.
Over the next two weeks, the president's party will organise forums in Nyeri, Murang'a, Kiambu, Kirinyaga, and Kiambu to consolidate what they have built.
