On July 21, Wycliffe Omwenga, a brother of slain businessman Kevin Omwenga, was found dead in his Riruta home in Nairobi. The police are yet to establish the circumstances surrounding his death.
Wycliffe was a key witness in the ongoing murder case of his brother Kevin, who was allegedly shot once in the chest at Galana Suites along Galana Road a year ago. Kevin's brother, Wycliffe, was present when the 28-year-old succumbed to gunshot injuries.
Police had arrested two suspects in connection with Kevin Omwenga's death: Robert Bodo Ouko, who allegedly fatally shot Omwenga, and Chris Obure, the alleged owner of the gun used in Omwenga's killing. Justice Jessie Lessit prohibited Obure and Bodo from handling firearms until the case is determined after releasing them on Sh2 million and Sh500 000 respectively.
Officer Stephen Tanki, in charge of Kilimani DCI, said that the police had not established the motive of Wycliffe's killing. An autopsy has been scheduled for July 27 to determine the cause of death.
Wycliffe's death has left the family in shock, with his uncle, Kennedy Ongwae, saying, “We are traumatised. It is shocking because we are still mourning the death of Kevin.”
