On July 21, 2021, a key witness in the murder case of car dealer Kevin Omwenga was found dead, potentially jeopardizing the ongoing investigation.
Kevin Omwenga was shot dead in August 2019 at his house in Galana Suites, Kilimani, in what detectives believed was a result of a business deal gone sour.
Police arrested gold dealer Chris Obure and his guard Robert Ouko Bodo, who were charged with murder. They denied the charge and were granted bail of Ksh2 million and Ksh500,000 respectively by Justice Jessie Lessit.
However, the death of Wycliffe Omwenga, the younger brother of Kevin Omwenga, has raised more questions about the case. His lifeless body was found inside his bedroom in Nairobi's Riruta estate, with the house allegedly locked from inside.
Relatives of the deceased claimed that they were sent away from Riruta police station when they went to report their kin's death, sparking accusations of a cover-up.
According to sources, officers from the DCI headquarters are expected to grill one of the suspects in the murder of Kevin Omwenga over the Wednesday killing of Omwenga's brother in Riruta.
Confirming the incident, Kilimani head of DCI Stephen Tanki said a post-mortem was scheduled for Tuesday, July 27 to get to the bottom of the matter.
