Former Imenti Central MP Gideon Mwiti, a 57-year-old politician, has passed away after a short illness.
According to his family, Mwiti died while receiving treatment at a hospital in Nairobi, where he had been rushed after developing diabetes-related complications.
Before his death, Mwiti had a storied career in politics, having won the parliamentary seat in Imenti Central under the Jubilee Party in 2013.
However, his tenure was short-lived, as he was defeated by Moses Kirima in 2017.
Following his defeat, Mwiti announced that he would be taking a break from politics to venture into the corporate world.
Notably, Mwiti was also involved in a high-profile rape case in 2015, where he was accused of raping a woman alongside a doctor identified as David Muchiri.
