Christine Ongare's historic bid to become the first Kenyan woman to win an Olympic medal ended in a crushing defeat at the hands of Philipino boxer Irish Magno on July 25, 2021, in Tokyo, Japan.

Magno dominated the three-round sprint bout, earning a perfect 10 out of 10 from all five judges, while Ongare managed a respectable 9 from the judges.

Despite her valiant effort, Ongare struggled to respond to Magno's jabs, marking her first appearance at the Olympic Games.
