Kenyan boxer Nick Okoth's Olympic dreams were dealt a blow after a closely contested match against Mongolian Erdenebat Tsendbaatar in the Tokyo Olympics.

Okoth, the skipper of the Kenyan boxing team, faced off against Tsendbaatar in the round of 32 featherweight duel on Saturday afternoon.

Despite a strong showing, Okoth ultimately lost on a split decision, with the judges scoring the match 3-2 in favor of the Mongolian.

The match was a closely contested three-round bout, with both boxers giving it their all.

Okoth's coach, Benjamin Musa, urged him on in the final round, but the Kenyan boxer couldn't quite muster the energy to take the win.
