Caroline Kangogo, a policewoman accused of killing two men, including her colleague in Nakuru, was set to be buried on July 23, 2021, at her parent's home in Nyawa village, Elgeyo Marakwet. However, the burial was delayed due to a scheduled autopsy that was not conducted.
According to Mark Kangogo, Caroline's brother, the family does not want to be subjected to another emotional and psychological torture if they set the date for her internment before an autopsy is done. "We have been promised by DCI officers in Iten the autopsy will be conducted on Tuesday. We are waiting for that day then we plan for the burial," he said.
The funeral committee chairman, Emmanuel Kiplagat, said they have already spent over Sh400,000 to organize the burial. They slaughtered two bulls and sourced refrigerators from the neighbourhood to chill the meat.
Government Chief Pathologist Johansen Oduor confirmed that he will conduct the autopsy on Tuesday, bringing relief to the family who is seeking closure.
