On July 24, 2021, a meeting between ODM leader Raila Odinga and Wiper's Kalonzo Musyoka led to the postponement of a Wiper parliamentary group meeting.
The meeting, initially scheduled for Friday, was intended to announce Wiper's pull-out from the Nasa coalition.
However, after the talks between Odinga and Kalonzo, Wiper's party leadership decided to give dialogue a chance, effectively postponing the meeting.
According to sources within Wiper and the One Kenya Alliance (OKA), the party weighed its political future ahead of the 2022 elections and the potential ramifications of leaving the coalition.
Wiper members currently hold key leadership positions in Parliament, including the National Assembly's Deputy Minority Leader and Senate Minority Whip.
ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi is expected to be handed the presidential ticket in OKA, which has led to Wiper's hesitation in leaving the coalition.
Wiper's National vice-chairman Victor Swanya stated that the party will organize the meeting sometime next week, with Mr. Mbui tasked with coordinating the arrangement.
Wiper's decision means that the efforts to build OKA as a political outfit for the 2022 polls remain in abeyance.
