On Wednesday night, a tragic incident occurred in East Kabuoch, Homa Bay County, where a 42-year-old man, Kennedy Otieno, lost his life in a brutal attack. The suspect, a 16-year-old boy, is accused of killing Otieno over a land dispute.
According to reports, the two men had a quarrel earlier in the day over the boundary of two pieces of land owned by their families. Neighbors intervened, and the two men went their separate ways. However, later that night, Otieno and his brothers visited the boy's home, where they allegedly beat up his mother after she failed to reveal her son's whereabouts.
The boy, who had been hiding behind a thicket near a track, emerged and attacked Otieno with a machete, slashing him twice. Otieno sustained serious injuries to his head and back and was rushed to Rongo sub-county hospital, where he died while receiving treatment.
Ndhiwa police commander Robert Aboki confirmed that the boy is still at large and urged residents to avoid taking the law into their own hands. He emphasized the importance of seeking the intervention of government officials.
As the police continue their search for the suspect, Otieno's body was taken to Rosewood Nursing Home mortuary in Rongo.
