On a fateful Saturday morning, July 24, 2021, a devastating road accident shook the Tangu area in Salama, Makueni County, claiming the lives of three people.

According to Makueni County Police Commander Joseph Ole Napeiyan, the driver of a Nissan X-Trail, who was attempting to overtake other vehicles without checking oncoming traffic, collided head-on with a truck.

The truck, which was heading towards Nairobi from Mombasa, careened off the road and rammed another lorry, causing both vehicles to overturn.

Police say the truck driver escaped after the accident, leaving behind the bodies of two men and a woman, who were later moved to the Kilungu Sub-County Hospital morgue.

As investigations continue, police have launched a hunt for the lorry driver who escaped on foot.
