On July 23, 2021, blogger Edgar Obare shared a story on Instagram alleging that Governor Alfred Mutua's wife, Lilian Ng'ang'a, was involved in a secret affair with gospel musician Juliani.
According to Obare, sources informed him that Lilian and Juliani were spotted getting intimate at The New Rain hotel in Juja, Kiambu county.
Obare claimed that the sources told him about the meeting at the hotel before he shared the news with his fans on Instagram.
One of the sources wrote to Obare, 'Mimi nikona chai…jana I was at this hotel by the name New Rain Kenyatta road juja. I saw Juliani with the wife of Governor Alfred Mutua lakini my mans told me “najua wewe ni one of the students wa Edgar Obare so don’t take photos of them, let them be” I didn’t take any photos.'
Obare protected the registration number of the white Toyota Landcruiser V8 that Lilian and Juliani left the hotel in together.
Juliani has been single since 2019 following a divorce with his wife Brenda Wairimu after eight years of marriage.
