July 14, 2021 - Safaricom has joined forces with Peter Tabichi, the 2019 Global Teacher Prize winner, to provide computers and internet connectivity to Keriko Mixed Secondary School in Nakuru County.

The initiative, valued at KES 1.7 million, is expected to impact over 200 students and includes the refurbishment of the school's computer laboratory and the institution's staffroom.

This is not the first time Safaricom has supported the school, as its philanthropic arm, Safaricom Foundation, had recently constructed and equipped the school's library.

Tabichi, a member of the Franciscan religious order, has been mentoring students of the school through various initiatives, which has seen the number of students going to university double.

He has dedicated his life to helping others, giving 80 per cent of his teaching salary to local community projects, including education, sustainable agriculture, and peace-building.
