Caroline Kangogo's Father Insists on Suicide, Despite Doubts ¶
Published on July 19, 2021
Caroline Kangogo's father, Mzee Barnabas Korir, has disputed suspicions that his daughter was murdered, insisting that she took her own life. The police have ruled that Kangogo's death was an apparent suicide.
According to Mzee Korir, his daughter was dropped off by a boda boda rider around 10pm on Thursday, before her body was found the next day. He claims that she was not seen by any family member until her lifeless body was discovered by her mother Leah during routine cleaning.
Mzee Korir also revealed that the bathroom where Kangogo's body was found was locked from the inside, which he believes suggests that she locked herself in. He also disputed that the police officer was left-handed, saying she was, indeed, right-handed.
However, not everyone is convinced that Kangogo's death was a suicide. Lawyer Cliff Ombeta and Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jr. have doubted the suicide story, with Ombeta saying that the placement of the gun in Kangogo's hand and the lack of blood splatters suggest that she was brought to the bathroom and left to bleed.
Police findings suggest that Kangogo shot herself using a Ceska pistol, with the bullet exiting through her left ear. However, Mzee Korir believes that the lack of blood splatters on the bathroom wall is due to the fact that the bullet exited through the left ear, rather than the front of the head.
Despite the doubts surrounding Kangogo's death, her father remains convinced that she took her own life. He also insisted that she was still innocent until proven guilty on the murders of colleague Constable John Ogweno and businessman Peter Njiru Ndwiga, for which she was being sought before her death.
