On July 19, 2021, Botswana Football Association President McLean Letshwiti sent a message of encouragement to the national team, known as the Zebras, after their participation in the 2021 COSAFA tournament in Port Elizabeth, South Africa.
Letshwiti acknowledged that the team's results may not have met expectations, but he was heartened by their spirit and determination, particularly in the face of challenges during camp.
"Whilst the results may not entirely represent our expectations, we are encouraged by the spirit and determination displayed by the team despite the challenges that preceded camp," Letshwiti said.
He emphasized the importance of grassroots development, stating that the BFA will continue to prioritize this area, which feeds into competitions.
"Youth development remains key in our priorities. We therefore undertake to work with both players and the technical team and other stakeholders in finding a permanent solution to the problems and challenges of Zebras players regarding welfare matters," he added.
Letshwiti also congratulated South Africa on their championship win in the 2021 COSAFA Tournament.
