On July 19, 2021, Crystal Palace completed the signing of central defender Marc Guehi from Chelsea for a reported fee of £20 million.
Guehi, 21, signed a five-year contract that will keep him at Selhurst Park Stadium until 2026, becoming the third signing under new Palace manager Patrick Vieira after Michael Olise and Remi Matthews.
"I'm very excited. It's a great opportunity for me to come to such a big club in the Premier League. I'm really excited to get going," Guehi told Crystal Palace's website.
Originally from Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, Guehi joined Chelsea's youth ranks in 2007 from boyhood club Cray Wanderers and made two senior appearances before making the permanent switch to Palace.
He has also represented England at various international youth levels, including the England Under-17 side that won the World Cup in 2017, scoring in a 5-2 victory over Spain in the final.
Before joining Palace, Guehi spent a season-and-a-half on loan at Championship side Swansea City, where he played 59 games and helped secure sixth- and fourth-placed league finishes consecutively.
He is expected to make his English Premier League debut when Palace begins their 2021/22 season against his former club Chelsea on August 14.
