On July 1, 2019, a tragic incident occurred when a body fell off the undercarriage of a Kenya Airways aircraft as it prepared to land at London's Heathrow Airport.
The aircraft, KQ Flight 100, had departed from Nairobi and was on its way to London when the incident happened.
According to a statement from Kenya Airways, the body of the unidentified male stowaway landed in a garden in the Borough of Lambeth, South London.
The owner of the garden discovered the body and immediately contacted London's Metropolitan Police, who tracked the flight's radar to the Kenya Airways aircraft.
Upon inspection, the police found a bag containing some food and clothing at the rear left landing gear of the plane.
"The incident has been treated as a sudden death and is now a police matter," said a statement from Kenya Airways. "The police have already been in contact with the Kenya High Commission to help identify and name the person."
The aircraft was cleared for operation after being inspected and no damage was reported.
Kenya Airways expressed its condolences to the family of the deceased and stated that it was working closely with the relevant authorities in Nairobi and London to fully investigate the case.
