Kenya is grappling with a rising crime rate, with a disturbing trend of child abductions and murders.

According to reports, a suspect led the police to an area in the city where they discovered three bodies, including that of 12-year-old Junior Mutuku Musyoka, who was abducted and killed after his mother was extorted Sh50,000 in ransom.

On the same day, a suspect was arrested in Moi's Bridge, Uasin Gishu County, over the deaths of several children.

While the arrest of the two suspects is a positive development, it is essential that parents, guardians, and teachers take extra precautions to ensure the safety of children.

Parents should ensure that there is a responsible adult watching over their children when they are playing outside, and that they are not far off when the children are at home.

Those who can afford it should consider securing their homes with CCTV cameras and other safety measures to protect their children.

As the police continue to investigate and resolve all murder and abduction cases, it is crucial that families take a proactive approach to securing their children's safety.
