On July 14, 2021, the body of fugitive police officer Caroline Kangogo was found in a bathroom in her father's compound in Keiyo, Elgeyo Marakwet County.

According to her father, Barnabas Kibor, a retired police officer, Caroline arrived home on Wednesday night at 10 pm using a Boda Boda and then locked herself inside the bathroom before shooting herself dead.

'To clear the air, I would like to confirm that Kangogo closed herself inside the bathroom and shot herself dead,' Kibor noted.

However, many leaders, including Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula and LSK President Nelson Havi, have expressed skepticism about the suicide narrative.

'Corporal Caroline Kangogo is dead from an alleged suicide. This should not bring closure to investigations as to who killed the two men associated with her,' Wetangula said.

LSK President Nelson Havi faulted the media for poor analysis of the matter, saying, 'The media has been conscripted by DCI to run with the cover-up story
