Google Adsense has expanded its anchor ads to wider screens, including desktops, as part of its ongoing innovations in AdSense.
First introduced in 2013, anchor ads have been a staple of mobile screens, but now they are also appearing on desktops.
According to Google, anchor ads are easily dismissible and appear at the top of the user's screen unless it would negatively affect the user experience, in which case they are shown at the bottom.
Users can turn off anchor ads on wider screens by using the new 'Wide screen' control in their Auto ads settings.
Google's experiments have shown that anchor ads perform well on wider screens, and the company is now rolling out this feature to more users.
As of July 19, 2021, anchor ads have begun showing on wider screens, including desktops.
