On July 17, 2021, a fire broke out in the Nairobi apartment of comedian Akuku Danger, leaving him shaken but alive.

According to Akuku, the fire started around 1am, filling his living room with smoke. He was rescued by his security team, who quickly responded to the emergency.

Speaking to the press, Akuku explained that he suspected an electrical fault might have caused the fire. He was grateful to have escaped with his life, although some of his electronics were damaged in the blaze.

"I woke up at 1.30am and found my living room on fire. There was a lot of smoke and I could not leave the house. I called security and they quickly came to my house and put out the fire," Akuku said.

He added that he would be visiting the hospital for a checkup due to the smoke inhalation.

Meanwhile, socialite Vera Sidika expressed her relief that Akuku had escaped the fire unharmed. The two had been involved in a dispute over payment for sound equipment hired for Vera's recent gender-reveal party in Nairobi.

"I wouldn't wish evil on anyone since," Vera said, dismissing Akuku's claims of non-payment as untrue.
