On July 17, 2021, the music world in Kenya lost a talented artist when Kikuyu musician Irungu Wanjaro, alias Wanjaro Junior, took his own life by jumping into River Sagana.

The musician, who was struggling to pay a Ksh700,000 debt, left behind a suicide note for his family, stating that they would find his body in the river.

Wanjaro Junior's family had initially reported him missing, but his body was later recovered from Masinga dam after his car was found abandoned on River Sagana bridge.

The musician, who was the only surviving child of the Wanjaro family, was a brother to the late Kikuyu Benga musician George Wanjara, who died in 2007.

Wanjaro Junior's death has left his family and fans in shock, particularly given the circumstances surrounding his passing.
