On Sunday night, police in Murang'a launched a crackdown on a bhang smoking competition and party at Le Zeros Sports Bar & Grill in Kenol town.
According to the Murang'a South Sub-County Police Commander John Ondit, the suspects were arrested following a tip-off by members of the public.
Speaking to the Daily Nation, Ondit said the alleged competition was held at the entertainment joint, where entry was only allowed to those who bought at least two rolls of the illegal substance.
"Members of the public assisted us in nabbing the suspects who had a party dubbed Rastafarian Party. For one to be allowed in the hotel, he had to buy at least two rolls of bhang; we have initiated a crackdown to arrest more after bhang uptake has risen in the area," said Ondit.
Police officers seized 146 rolls of bhang during the raid and the club was closed down for investigations.
The suspects will be arraigned in Kigumo Law Courts on Monday.
