On July 17, 2021, the family of Caroline Kangogo announced that they would not be cremating her as she had wished in a suicide note. The decision was made during a family gathering at her parents' home in Nyawa village, Elgeyo Marakwet County.

The family cited cultural reasons, stating that cremation is against the Keiyo Community's customs. However, they did express their intention to respect all other wishes that the deceased had made, including taking care of her two children.

Caroline Kangogo had written a suicide note before her death, apologizing to her parents and children and making several requests. In the note, she asked to be cremated to end her parents' suffering and requested that her children be taken care of.

She also made a request regarding some items in Kasarani, asking her family to hire movers for safe delivery. Additionally, she expressed her regret to her loved ones, including her parents, siblings, children, colleagues, and extended family, for letting them down.

Caroline Kangogo had been accused of shooting and killing a police officer in Nakuru Police Station and a security officer at a hotel in Juja. Her family has since apologized to the two families who lost their loved ones in the alleged murders.

"We would have wanted to know what happened if she had surrendered," the family stated.
