On July 16, 2021, a tragic incident unfolded in Nyawa, Elgeyo Marakwet county, where Caroline Kangogo, a 34-year-old fugitive police officer, allegedly shot herself dead in a bathroom at her home.
According to County Police Commander Patrick Lumumba, Kangogo's mother discovered her lifeless body in the bathroom early morning.
Kangogo was wanted for the double murder of a fellow officer, John Ogweno, in Nakuru, and another man, Peter Ndwiga, in Juja, a day later.
Despite her death, the DCI hopes to unravel the mystery behind Kangogo's killing spree and what could have triggered her actions.
Investigations have revealed that Kangogo left behind a string of messages on her phone, which could provide crucial clues to the tragedy.
The messages allegedly reveal a history of sexual harassment by her boss in Nakuru, bad blood between her father and estranged husband, and a claim that her earlier victims conned her out of money.
Her last wish, as captured in the messages, was to be dressed in a wedding gown and cremated, a request that has left investigators and her family stunned.
Kangogo's body was taken to the Iten County Referral morgue as police continue to piece together the events surrounding her death.
