On Thursday night, Corporal Caroline Kangogo, a police officer who had been on the run for nearly two weeks, tragically took her own life at her parents' home in Keiyo, Elgeyo Marakwet.
According to Rift Valley police boss George Natembeya, who confirmed the news on Friday, July 16, 2021, Kangogo's death was a result of suicide.
Her parents, Barnaba Kipkoech Korir and Leah Jepkosgei Kangogo, had pleaded with their daughter to surrender to the authorities, but unfortunately, it was too late.
Caroline Kangogo had been accused of murdering two men, including a former police officer, and a serving police officer. The two men died from single gunshot wounds in the head, one in Nakuru and the other in a lodging in Juja.
Just a day before her death, Kangogo had spoken from her hideout, listing conditions for her willingness to turn herself in. She had expressed fear of being detained at a police station, fearing that her fellow police officers might harm her to conceal evidence.
