On July 2, 2021, a chaotic scene unfolded at Quiver Lounge along Thika Road in Nairobi when Dickson Njanja Mararo, a civilian firearm holder, opened fire, leaving several people injured.

Mararo, 28, appeared before Milimani Chief Magistrate Martha Mutuku on Thursday, where he denied three charges of attempting to kill two police officers and a woman.

According to a charge sheet filed in court, Mararo confronted the police officers, demanding to know why they were laughing at him. He also accused them of pestering his girlfriend and looking at him in a demeaning manner.

As the officers were exiting the establishment, Mararo opened fire, shooting them at close range. Officer Lawrence Muturi reported that the accused person 'opened fire discriminatively.'

Officer Fetus Musyoka, who was shot in the neck, remains in critical condition despite undergoing surgery.
