On the eve of Wednesday morning, a family of five was reduced to two after a fire ravaged their home in Molo Hill, Subukia, Nakuru county.

The fire, whose cause remains unknown, started around 6:00 am, leaving behind a trail of destruction and heartbreak.

Nakuru County Police Commander Beatrice Kiraguri confirmed the tragic incident, saying, 'We woke up to sad news of a family that has perished in a fire incident in Molo hill area, a mother with her three children aged one, three, and six years.'

According to Kiraguri, the two older children had left for school shortly before the fire broke out, while the two younger ones who were at home attempted to alert their mother but were too late.

Area MP Samuel Gachobe has urged residents to refrain from speculation and has pledged to construct a temporary house for the remaining family members.

The bodies of the four victims were taken to the Nakuru municipality mortuary.
