Published on July 1, 2019, DP William Ruto has vowed to work day and night to end poverty in Kenya, which he claims is caused by Raila's opposition to development projects.

Raila has been accused of being the 'king of poverty' by Ruto, who claims that the former Prime Minister opposes every development project that could benefit Kenyans.

According to Ruto, Raila's actions are a major hindrance to the government's efforts to promote development and reduce poverty in the country.

"You were the one who opposed the Eurobond loan, you also opposed the construction of the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR), and you even oppose people who contribute to church collections. You oppose every kind of development because you believe that the country should remain poor," Ruto said in a tweet.

The exchange between Ruto and Raila comes after the latter criticized Ruto's decision to donate funds to churches in Elgeyo Marakwet county, which Raila claimed were tainted by corruption.
