On July 14, 2021, a tense standoff unfolded in downtown Nairobi as University of Nairobi students took to the streets to express their grievances.
Protests along University Way and Uhuru Highway brought traffic to a standstill as police moved in to disperse the students.
Law enforcement officers responded with tear gas, and in the ensuing chaos, three leaders of the University of Nairobi Students Association (UNSA) were taken into custody.
