On the day of the first murder, Corporal Kangogo Caroline met with two men she is accused of killing, along with three other men, in a meeting that lasted for hours.

According to a report in the Daily Nation on July 14, 2021, police officers who witnessed the meeting described it as intense.

During the meeting, Corporal Kangogo's first victim, Constable John Ogweno, left alone, taking a taxi to the Nakuru town centre, where he stopped at a bank before proceeding to Merica Hotel on Kenyatta Avenue to meet someone.

Later, Constable Ogweno took a motorcycle to the Kasarani police houses, where he made his way to the residence he shared with Cpl Kangogo at Block 9. Three other people arrived at the house, including Cpl Kangogo.

The report also stated that Kangogo's colleagues believe that her life could be in danger, and that there may be more to the story than initially thought.

As the investigation continues, the DCI has suggested that while Kangogo may have pulled the trigger, some senior police officers could have been involved in the deaths and may be trying to silence her.
