On July 14, 2021, the Third 'Belt and Road' Short Video Competition kicked off, aiming to highlight the impact of the Belt and Road Initiatives (BRI) on local communities in Africa.
Organized by the China Public Diplomacy Association, the News Center of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC) of China, and Global Times Online (Huanqiu.com), the competition seeks to showcase new opportunities for individual and national development brought about by international cooperation in the post-pandemic era.
StarTimes Media, a Pay Television broadcaster, is the media partner of the competition, providing strong support for its promotion across Africa through its media platforms and localized resources.
The theme of this year's competition is 'Share opportunities for a splendid future,' focusing on strategic infrastructure projects such as the Mombasa to Nairobi Standard Gauge Railway, Lagos-Ibadan Railway, and national digital migration in Mozambique.
Local media practitioners and ordinary citizens are invited to participate in the competition by submitting illustrative videos based on their understanding and perspective of the BRI.
The competition recognizes outstanding videos in various categories, including 'Most Popular Video' and 'Most Creative Video.'
Participants can submit their videos via email to [email protected] or upload them through social media platforms with the tag #WordKaleidoscope.
The competition's timelines are as follows: submission from June 17 to August 27, 2021; voting from September 6 to 12, 2021; expert evaluation from September 13 to 18, 2021; and results announcement on September 27, 2021.
