On the night of July 13, 2021, a devastating fire swept through the Runda home of Mutahi Ngunyi, a prominent political analyst.
According to reports, the fire started at around 1:45am and was fueled by strong winds, reducing the large mansion to a smoldering ruin.
Photos obtained by Pulse Live show the extent of the damage, with flames engulfing the roof and smoke billowing from the ground-level windows.
Despite the severity of the fire, there were no reported casualties, and it is unclear whether anyone was inside the house at the time of the blaze.
Fire engines from Kiambu County Government were deployed to put out the fire, but the damage was extensive.
Ngunyi, who has lived in the house for 27 years, has yet to comment on the magnitude of the damage, but it is likely that he will need to seek alternative shelter, especially during the cold season.
