Launched in 2013, China's Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) has been a game-changer for global trade and economic development. As the world continues to navigate the post-pandemic era, the BRI has become a beacon of hope for many countries, including those in Africa.

Against this backdrop, the China Public Diplomacy Association, the News Center of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC) of China, and Global Times Online (Huanqiu.com) have organized the Third Belt and Road Short Video Competition. The event aims to showcase the opportunities brought about by international cooperation and highlight the stories of people-to-people bonds that have been forged through adversity.

StarTimes Media, a leading pay television broadcaster, is the media partner of the competition. Through its extensive media platforms and localized resources, it will provide strong support for promoting the event across Africa.

The competition is open to all members of the public, who are invited to participate by submitting illustrative videos that tell a distinct story of how China has joined hands with other countries to enhance local construction and economic development. The videos can be submitted through email or posted on social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and TikTok, with the tag #WordKaleidoscope.

The competition recognizes outstanding videos in various categories, including 'Most Popular Video' and 'Most Creative Video.' The outcome will be communicated by the organizing committee through email.

Timelines for the Third Belt and Road Short Video Competition:

Submission: From 17th June to 27th August 2021.

Voting: From 6th to 12th September 2021.

Expert Evaluation: From 13th to 18th September 2021.

Results announcement: 27th September 2021.
