Garissa Woman Representative Anab Gure has sparked interest with her all-female security detail, and she's now explained why she prefers women as her bodyguards.
Ms Gure, who represents Garissa county, was spotted with two female guards dressed in hijabs, military combat bulletproof vests, and carrying AK47 rifles during a tour of the county on Monday.
She noted that the guards are always with her, not just on border tours, and that having an all-female security detail has several advantages.
‘I prefer women bodyguards as my security detail. I believe that women can do better than men,' Ms Gure told Nation.
She cited the ability of her female bodyguards to handle personal items she might forget, such as sanitary products, and to provide a more comfortable environment for her when discussing sensitive topics.
Ms Gure was accompanied by Bura East Deputy County Commissioner Kipkirui Arap Bett, Fafi OCPD Lawrence Muchangi, and Border Point Unit commander Muita Sashi during the tour.
