On June 14, 2021, Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) relaunched its operations, introducing a new look and a team of 'legends' who dominated the media landscape for years.

According to KBC's Editor-in-Chief Samuel Maina, the 'legends' have been brought in as 'performing artists/talents', a euphemism for casual employees. They are paid only for their work and do not enjoy benefits like medical cover.

The 'legends' include Catherine Kasavuli, Tom Mboya, Cynthia Nyamai, Shiksha Arora, John Kioria, Fred Indimuli, Juma Ballo, Harith Salim, and Nancy Onyancha. They will present news and conduct interviews in their specific segments.

For instance, Catherine Kasavuli will present the weekend edition, branded as Legends Edition, while Tom Mboya and Cynthia Nyamai will anchor prime time news during the week.

Mr. Maina stated that the 'legends' are only on Saturday at 7pm and 9pm, and they will also train upcoming anchors to sharpen their skills.
