On July 13, 2021, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) began investigating four men linked to the murder of two men killed by Corporal Caroline Kangogo.

According to the DCI, the four men may have been involved in the deaths of the two men, and some senior police officers could be trying to silence Kangogo.

The investigation comes as the DCI hints that Kangogo may not have been romantically involved with the two men she killed, contrary to media allegations.

Among the four men being investigated is Peter Ndwiga, a former police officer who ran a security company in Juja. Ndwiga was found murdered in a lodging in Juja.

"There is a group of police officers baying for her blood and there is one that is protecting her and this is why she has not been seen," an officer privy to the investigations was quoted as saying.

Nakuru County Criminal Investigations Officer Anthony Sunguti suggested that Police Constable John Ogweno's death may have been an inside job, with police officers possibly involved.

"What needs to be done now is to protect Cpl Kangogo from her rogue colleagues – some of whom are senior members of the police service – so that once she is arrested, she can give the real account of what happened," Sunguti was quoted as saying.
