On July 14, Emily Chepkemboi, a 23-year-old student at the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) in Homa Bay, will be laid to rest. The burial arrangements were finalized by her brother Joseph Kipruto, who expressed his desire for the government to accord her justice.
“As we lay my sister to rest, I want to call on the government authorities to accord her justice. She died an unwarranted death that was caused by someone. We want the killers brought to book,” Kipruto said.
Emily's decomposed body was found in her rental house on June 27, and it is suspected that she was killed two nights prior. Investigators have been relying on information from her phone conversations and have detained a contractor, a resident of Homa Bay, who is suspected to be the killer.
“We are still interrogating the suspect. He was Chepkemboi’s lover. We are doing our best to get information regarding the murder,” said Homa Bay sub-county DCIO Monica Berege.
