July 1, 2019 - Gor Mahia has denied signing Rwandan midfielder Djabel Manishimwe, contrary to media reports that suggested the player had joined the club for a reported Ksh 3,000,000.
According to the club's deputy secretary general Ronald Ngala, signing Manishimwe would not be in the best interest of the team, as their midfield is already packed.
Ngala explained, 'Our midfield is packed and we cannot sign a midfielder. The coach is only interested in a striker and we are busy scouting for one either locally or an import.'
Manishimwe had previously signed with AFC Leopards but failed to report for duty, and the club is now saying he has not been signed.
Meanwhile, Gor Mahia is preparing for the Cecafa Kagame tournament, which kicks off on July 7 in Kigali, Rwanda. The club will be represented by the 2019 KPL champions, alongside Bandari, the Shield cup winners.
