Kenya's healthcare landscape is set for a significant boost as Penda Health, a private healthcare provider, embarks on an ambitious expansion plan. The company aims to increase its geographical coverage, particularly in underserved communities, to meet the growing demand for quality healthcare services.

According to Penda Health's CEO, Stephanie Koczela, the expansion is driven by the high demand for quality healthcare in Kenya, fueled by population growth and rising medical costs. The company plans to establish three new branches in Nairobi and five others in the Coastal, Central, Eastern, and Rift regions, bringing the total number of outlets to 30 by the end of next year.

The funding for the expansion will be sourced from Penda's investors and partners, totaling Ksh 100 million. This investment is expected to enhance the company's ability to provide quality healthcare services to a wider population, particularly in rural areas where access to healthcare is limited.

As part of its expansion strategy, Penda Health has introduced a telemedicine service, 'Pigia Penda,' which allows patients to access healthcare services remotely. The service has received over 100 calls per day, supporting outreach calls to patients and coordinating home drug delivery.

The company has also hired Karim Moledina, a business development expert, as its new Chief Operating Officer, tasked with spearheading the expansion strategy underpinned by technology. Moledina will oversee branch expansion, HR, supply chain, facilities, and marketing.
