As of July 13, 2021, the Philippine Identification System Act (RA No. 11055) has been in place, making it easier for Filipinos and foreigners to register for a national ID.

The good news is that the registration process is simple and free. In this article, we will guide you through the steps to apply for your PhilSys National ID online.

Eligibility

Any Filipino, whether living in the Philippines or abroad, is eligible to apply for a PhilSys National ID. There is no minimum age requirement, but individuals under 18 must be accompanied by a guardian to the registration centers. Foreigners who have spent more than six months in the Philippines are also eligible to apply.

Online Registration

Start by visiting register.philsys.gov.ph and registering online. The online application process is straightforward.

Click 'Proceed' and use your Philippine mobile number to register. You will receive an OTP via SMS, which you will need to enter to complete the online form.

Once you have completed the online form, make an appointment at the Registration Center closest to you. If no open slots are available, you can select to book later.

Take a screenshot of your appointment slip if a schedule is confirmed. You can log out at this point and use your Philippine mobile phone to check back in. You won't need a password as you will be sent a new OTP.

Registration Center

The next step is to attend the Registration Center on the designated date. Your information and supporting documents will be double-checked and validated there. They will also take a front-facing photograph and record your biometric information, such as your fingerprint and iris scans.

Make sure to bring the required documents, including a Philippine Passport or ePassport, a Unified Multi-purpose Identification Card, or a government-issued identification document with a complete name, front-facing photograph, and signature or thumb mark.

Additional supporting documents may include a License to Own or Possess Firearms ID, NBI Clearance, Police Clearance/ID, and more.

After completing the registration process, make sure to keep your PhilSys National ID safe and visit the PhilSys official website for additional details.
