On July 13, 2021, KEMSA hosted a pre-bid conference for prospective bidders, emphasizing the importance of maintaining high standards of ethics and integrity in the procurement process.
Speaking at the conference, KEMSA acting Chief Executive Officer Mr Edward Njoroge encouraged local manufacturers and disadvantaged groups under the AGPO program to participate in the tender process, assuring them of transparency and fair play.
He explained that the bids submission and evaluation process would be undertaken on the National Treasury's Integrated Financial Management Information System (IFMIS) Digital procurement platform, ensuring fair play and enhancing competition.
Over 260 suppliers attended the pre-bid conference, set to submit tender documents for various health products, including ARV Medicines, Topical, Disinfectants, and Surgical and Orthopaedic Dressing.
Njoroge disclosed that an automated supplier performance tool would be used to track supplier performance on specific metrics, including timely deliveries and quality of products.
He emphasized KEMSA's commitment to quality services, thanks to the commitment of suppliers who adhere to strict quality assurance standards.
Having undertaken extensive integrity adjustments, prospective suppliers, including local manufacturers and disadvantaged groups, will be required to maintain high ethical operating standards.
