Published on July 13, 2021, the first day of the murder trial against Migori Governor Okoth Obado has left many in shock. The government pathologist, Johansen Oduor, gave a graphic account of the brutal manner in which Sharon Otieno was murdered.

Sharon, a Rongo University student, was found dead in a thicket, her body bearing the gruesome signs of a brutal attack. She was stabbed seven times, with wounds under her left ear caused by slashing, and multiple others that caused her skin to slip at the back.

According to Dr. Oduor, Sharon's death was caused by excessive bleeding and strangulation. Her body was pale, indicating that she had lost a lot of blood. To kill her unborn foetus, Sharon's assailants had stabbed her on the stomach with so much force that the knife penetrated and killed the baby.

The court saw over 100 images that showed the extent of Sharon's injuries, including stab wounds on her stomach and back. The graphic details of the murder have left many in shock, and the trial is expected to continue with more revelations.
