On July 8, 2021, a shooting incident occurred at Kiminini Market in Trans Nzoia County, leaving Phanice Chemutai Juma wounded.

Businessman Ken Muyundo, who was arraigned at the Kitale Law Courts on July 13, 2021, denied charges of attempted murder.

According to Muyundo, he shot Chemutai on suspicion that she was the fugitive cop, Caroline Kangogo, who was being sought in relation to the killing of two men in Nakuru and Thika.
