On July 12, 2021, Carrefour, a leading retailer in Kenya, announced the upcoming opening of two new stores in Kisumu, the nation's third-largest city.

The stores, located at the Market MEGA and the United Mall, are expected to open in July and August respectively, offering a convenient assortment of fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) at Carrefour prices.

According to Franck Moreau, Country Manager of Carrefour Kenya, the stores will create over 200 jobs for local residents, both directly and indirectly, through employment and supply opportunities for local farmers and manufacturers.

Carrefour's expansion in Kisumu is part of its larger strategy to increase its footprint in various regions across the country, following investments in Nairobi and Mombasa.
