Police are conducting a search operation in Kasarani and its surroundings after GSU officer Joseph Otieno went missing on July 9, 2021. Otieno, who was attached to the GSU headquarters in Ruaraka, Nairobi, was last seen leaving his home in a hired car.

According to his wife Caroline Adhiambo, Otieno's phone signals were last located around Naivas Supermarket in Ruaraka before being switched off at 11:13 pm on the fateful day.

Adhiambo made a missing person report after the car Otieno hired was found abandoned in Mwiki, Kasarani. The car was towed to Mwiki Police Station and a multi-agency team comprising detectives drawn from DCI and the GSU has been dispatched to conduct a search for the missing officer.

Speaking to the Nyakundi Report, Kasarani OCPD Peter Mwanzo said the team has not been successful in locating Otieno but will return to the area on Tuesday to continue the search. "We conducted the search around Gituamba farm, Mwiki where the last car track signal was traced," Mwanzo said.
