July 12, 2021, marked a significant milestone for celebrated radio personality Jalang'o as he received his first salary after joining Kiss FM. The amount was substantial, and he knew he had to celebrate in style.
After getting paid, Jalang'o used his first paycheck to treat his friend Captain Otoyo. The two had lunch together to celebrate Jalang'o's biggest pay by then. He recalled, 'I checked my salary and withdrew 2K, I then went to Mac Fries and bought fries. I called Otoyo and told him 'kuja hapa kuna chipo na kuku,'
But Jalang'o's celebration didn't stop there. He also used his salary to upgrade his living status by buying new household items. 'I also bought myself a new bed and upgraded my TV. I bought a new one for around 18-20K, at least it was clear than what I had. Can you imagine sleeping on a new bed, watching TV and you are full?' he said.
Today, Jalang'o's salary is ranked as one of the highest in Kenya's radio industry, thanks to the lucrative rates paid by Radio Africa Group to its top employees.
