On July 12, 2021, comedian Akuku Danger took to Instagram to express his frustration with Vera Sidika, a socialite, over unpaid services at a gender reveal party.
According to Akuku, he had agreed to provide sound equipment for the party for a fee of Sh15,000 for one hour. However, Vera only paid him a deposit of Sh10,000.
"For some of us, it's the small money that makes a difference in our livelihoods. I'm kindly asking you to pay me my balance of 5,000, Which rightfully belongs to me!", Akuku posted.
He claimed that Vera's disrespect towards him and his team, including being thrown out of a hotel, was the main reason for his public appeal.
"Trust me, I'd let the Sh5,000 slide, but it's the disrespect you showed me and my team last night that makes me do this. Imagine leaving the venue at 1 am past curfew hours and the police caught up with us.", he said.
His appeal sparked reactions from celebrities such as MCA Tricky, comedian YY, Terence Creative, and others who piled pressure on Vera to pay the balance.
"Vera whatever... lipa msanii! acha umbwakni!", MCA Tricky posted.
Many fans of Vera blasted Akuku Danger for exposing the situation on social media, but he defended his actions, saying it was not just about the money but the disrespect shown to him.
