July 12, 2021 - Kilifi County Speaker Jimmy Kahindi's surprise entry into the gubernatorial contest has left other camps scrambling to respond.
According to political analysts, Kahindi's extensive experience in budget-making and his role as a referee in the county assembly make him a formidable candidate.
"A good leader can be committed to the vision and goal of the people he leads," said an analyst. "One who is waxed enthusiastic about the needs of the people, be empathetic, get focused to finding solutions to the challenges facing people."
"These qualities do not need making the loudest noise in burials and political podiums but sitting down and engaging strategies that will bring solutions to the perennial problems facing kilifians," the analyst added.
With several chief officers and county ministers also vying for elective posts, the competition in Kilifi is heating up. Analysts believe that Kahindi's commitment to the people's needs and his ability to find solutions to the county's challenges make him a strong contender in the gubernatorial contest.
"Hon Jimmy Kahindi has been in the front line overseeing the research and formulation of legislation that will make Kilifi a great county," said another analyst. "It's time now we give him a chance to oversee the implementation of these county laws for the betterment of Kilifi," they added.
